 What is the TwEECer? (Pronounced Tweaker)

The TwEECer is an advanced tuning device, providing you the key that opens the door to the Ford EEC (Electronic Engine Control).  With the opening of this door you will be able to control all aspects of spark advance, fuel delivery,  air metering, Transmission shift points, converter lock/unlock, shift pressure.  Emissions equipment disabling and elimination of trouble codes.

Take the portability of a chip and the unlimited re-calibration features of an EEC Tuner. Add a five mode setting:

Positions 1-4 are for your custom tuning. one for NA, one for Nitrous, one Economy and one Aggressive; you get the point.

Position 5 turns off the TwEECer, Returning you to the stock settings, no need to waste a calibration location for a safety net.

What Is The TwEECer?

The TwEECer is an adapter which connects to the J3 service port of a Ford EEC PCM, giving you the ability to substitute parameters in the calibration data with parameters that match the modifications which you have made to your engine. So as you add performance to your car, you can easily match the EEC's calibration to your combo.

How?

Using your Laptop or Desktop PC, you connect the TwEECer to the USB port and run the user interface software CalEdit, which comes with the TwEECer. CalEdit gives you a very nice and easy to use graphical user interface for making changes to your calibration. Once you have your calibration setup as you like, then write/save the binary to disk and to the TwEECer.

What features does the TwEECer have?

In addition to giving you complete control over your EEC, it has a few additional features which make it stand out above the rest.

 Four calibration locations. The TwEECer gives you the ability to flash four (4) completely independent calibrations and switch between them, all while the engine is running. An excellent feature if you want an Economy/Performance option or NA/Nitrous option. No other flashable chip/tuner on the market offers this feature. There is a 5th position which "Turns OFF" the TwEECer and returns to the stock settings, no need to waste a calibration location for a safety net.

Graphical User Interface. The TwEECer comes with CalEdit, a very intuitive and simple to use GUI for making changes to your calibration data.

Support Groups. There is a UBB forum setup at http://tweecer.oplnk.net where you can post, subscribe and share your EEC tuning knowledge.

There is a discussion group at www.yahoogroups.com for the TwEECer owners, just send an email to TwEECer-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. I also recommend that all TwEECer owners subscribe to the EEC-Tuner list at www.yahoogroups.com as there is an abundance of info there which relates to tuning.

Calibration data includes:

·        Engine displacement

·        Injector size

·        MAF function

·        Base / Stabilized / startup fuel mixture

·        Base / Altitude / Limp mode timing tables

·        94/95 AOD-E shift points, TV Pressure, etc

·        Drive & Neutral idle rpm

·        Neutral & in gear rev limits

This is just a brief list of the calibration data available to be modified.

 

How Does The TwEECer Compare?

 Mail Order Chips – Do you really want to wait and have to mail EPROM's back & forth? Plus, if you add more performance, your old chip tune is history- time for a re-burn. Add more performance, another re-burn. Perhaps this is not the best approach…

Custom Chip – Hey this is better! A little expensive, but you get some personal attention for your particular combo. Performance is optimized on the dyno, and a chip is burned just for you. But now you’re married to your chip tuner. Adding more power? Moving out of town? Car not exactly running right? Guess who’s got the chip burning equipment? Guess who you have to go see? Hope you don’t have to wait four weeks just to see him! Hmm, maybe this isn’t it either……

EEC Tuner – So you spend even more money now and you got complete control – “you don’t need no stinking nobody”. Just need a local shop with a dyno and figure out how to do re-calibrations. The equipment can be a little complicated to operate, but once you learn it, you can optimize and re-calibrate until your little heart’s content. Not a bad deal, “but is there anything better?” you ask.

System Requirements

Ok, the TwEECer definitely sounds like the way to go, what else do I need?

You will need to have a Desktop PC or Laptop with a functioning USB port or USB 32bit Card Bus card, running Win98SE, Win2K or WinXP. We supply all the cables and software necessary to flash your adapter with your latest tweaks.

Optional Suggested Hardware
 
 Optional data that can be logged such as Air Fuel ratio, Boost or Fuel pressure will require additional hardware depending on year model vehicle and which items you wish to log. On many EEC-IV based vehicles the EVP or EGR Valve Position sensor can be used as an analog input (measuring 0-5volts) kind of like a Digital volt meter. The output of many sensors is scaled 0-1volt or 0-5volts, including most Wideband Controllers used to measure accurate Air/Fuel ratios. Ford uses a Narrow band HEGO (heated exhaust gas oxygen) sensor which can measure Air/Fuel accurately only at Stoich or 14.7:1.
 
 Wideband controllers can measure from 10:1 to 20:1 Air/Fuel and when tuning a super or turbo charged setup a wideband is required, if you want to keep the engine together. EEC-V vehicles do not have this extra input available so an external logger is supported and available for VERY reasonable cost. The DataQ DI-194 gives the end user 4 external channels to log additional items.
 
 Recommended wideband controllers are the Innovate LM-1 and the PLX Devices line of products. Both companies are VERY reputable and stand behind their products as we have heard nothing but good things from our customers who have been using these Wideband controllers.
